The Daniel Fast 21-Day Meal Plan by Angel Tate Keaton is part of a series called RISE. The series honors the Lord as we learn to be alert in mind, spirit and body. It is published by a media outlet called Healthy Heart which explains itself. The Daniel Fast 21-Day meal plan is not intended as a diet for weight loss though if you begin to follow it you will probably lose weight. Beginning with a couple verses from the bok of Daniel a whole way of worship through recognizing food and spirit are closely related. A humble heart and obedient spirit become the main goal of the fast. There are daily devotions, a meal plan including grocery lists and three meals and a snack every day. Each week emphasizes a new spiritual goal with suggestions for moving towards a healthier, more spiritually aware state. What I love the most are the cooking instructions for almost any grain or legume. The recipes are easy to follow and look really delicious; I can’t wait to get started. These ideas even include many spices and what they complement the best. I will reference all of the instructions and information over and over again. I plan to make gifts of this book to my friends and daughters.

Great guided fasting book!

This is a great book on fasting centered around the book of Daniel to help guide you with purpose. I will say even if you aren’t religious this book is super informative and helpful. The book lays out the 21 day fast in a reset, rebuild, renew framework. What I loved most about it is that it gives you a 2 hr prep window on the weekend so it makes your way of eating easy. There are tips and tricks to freezing, mix and matching, etc. the author breaks down what symptoms you might feel when starting the fast and quick fixes to help. Overall the book is super thorough and I really enjoyed it. I made the first weeks meals and they were super tasty! Also if you want to do a fast that includes meat you can substitute some of the grains out and add in your own protein of choice.

I know there are a lot of different ways to do the Daniel fast. I appreciated some things in particular about this book though. The author gave some really good insights on the Daniel fast and how there are many variations. They also went through the foods that you should shouldn’t eat based on how you decide you want to do the Daniel fast. And then I also have a lot of recipes and how to use spices rather than you know fats and things like that. So it was a really good book. I don’t know if I would do it the way this book says, but it was a very good book and it was very helpful.

It gives you all the tools you will need and it prepares you well for each day while being realistic of the side effects of altering your diet to embark on this plan.
