Strawberry Syrup

My very first job was working at Dairy Queen. (Don’t worry, I never use that as a secret password or secret question.) I was always the front counter person, because people loved me for some reason, so that meant in the restaurant that I worked at the ice cream making was my responsibility. My favorite thing to make was banana split topped with candied walnuts of course. That little curl at the top of the ice cream is a DQ signature trademark, and it had to be just right! So, when I had any blizzard, sundae, or banana split to make, I loved to smell the syrups. That smell still takes me back. Say what you want, I loved working at Dairy Queen, and I had the best boss and coworkers!

Vegan Lemon Curd Canning Recipe

One of my favorite blasts from the past is lemon curd….it is great as a pie filling, in lemon bars, on toast…on a spoon. haha I was craving lemon curd so much that I could almost taste it. You’ve been there right? Lemon curd is a very rich, very decadent dessert. It has the perfect mix of sweet and tart, with a nice thick buttery mouth feel. It is typically very easy and quick to make. If you love lemons, you will adore this Vegan Lemon Curd Recipe!

Angel’s BBQ Sauce

This is a nice mellow sweet BBQ Sauce that packs a powerful punch in flavor with just a hint of heat to spice things up. You may be surprised at my two secret ingredients: cinnamon and clove. These bring a really nice layer of flavor that is very satisfying to the palate.

Mexican Chili – Roasted Salsa

Mexican Chili – Roasted Salsa – My aunt Laverne was a beautiful Mexican woman who I loved dearly. She used to make and can (preserve) the best salsa I have ever tasted. Our family nicknamed it “Mexican Chili,” and that is the name it still carries in her honor. She moved away, halfway across the US, when I was younger, and unfortunately, she passed away many years ago. I tried unsuccessfully to get her recipe from her children, but no one had it. I created this recipe in her honor.

Mom’s Seasoning Blend

My mother used to tell me, “waste not, want not.” I don’t know about you, but I get a little disgusted at having to throw away or compost what was once really good and delicious food! Food that we worked hard to make money to buy or to grow in our garden. Have you ever gotten to the end of the week or the end of batch cooking for the week and wondered what to do with the vegetables that are left over? You don’t want them to go to waste, but you don’t quite know what to do with them either.

Beet and Bean Burger

No one in my family likes beets. We just don’t care for the “earthy” flavor they are infamous for. However, I found myself with some beets that I needed to use in some way….and for some reason I could not even give them away. So, instead of creating waste, I created the recipe for these Beet & Bean Burgers. When I say these burgers were a hit, I am seriously understating it!! BWe ALL loved these, even my most picky eater! Todd turned them into gourmet burgers the next day for lunch, and they were even better. These are even good cold! I hope you give them a try! Let me know what you think.
