Ditch Synthetic Fibers: Embrace Natural Fabrics

We are moving to natural fibers which prompted a MASSIVE closet declutter and destash. Will you too become a Linenite?

Why I Became a Linenite: Decluttering, Destashing, and Overcoming Synthetic Fabrics

I recently decided to make the switch to natural fibers—cue the massive closet declutter. It wasn’t just a spring cleaning moment; it was a full-on wardrobe purge! And let me ask you: are you ready to join me in becoming a Linenite? What is a Linenite, you ask? Let me take you on a journey. I’ll explain why natural fabrics like linen, cotton, and bamboo have become my go-to. Synthetic fabrics no longer have a place in my closet.

The Shocking Truth About Synthetic Fabrics

Remember when we were kids, and we’d run our socks over the carpet just to create static electricity so we could zap our friends? It was hilarious… until it wasn’t. As we age, those little electrical charges in our synthetic clothes stop being fun and start being a little concerning.

Why? Well, everything has a vibrational frequency—yes, even your polyester blouse. Synthetic fibers, including polyester and nylon, emit a frequency that might not be so friendly to your body. Meanwhile, natural fibers like linen and cotton harmonize with us more gently. I mean, I don’t need a static shock every time I touch my sweater, thank you very much.

The Hidden Dangers of Static Electricity: Understanding Dirty Electricity

Static electricity may seem harmless, but its effects can be surprisingly detrimental. Often caused by synthetic fabrics, this phenomenon can lead to what is known as “dirty electricity.” When static charges build up, they disrupt the natural flow of electrical energy in our environment and our bodies. This , creates interference that affects both our electronic devices and our own bodily function. This disruption can lead to headaches and fatigue. It may cause various health issues over time. Our bodies struggle to cope with these unnatural electrical frequencies. We can address and minimize exposure to static electricity. By using natural fibers, we create a healthier living space. This space is conducive to our well-being.

The Hidden Dangers of Static Electricity: Grounding

Consider exploring the beauty and sustainability of natural fiber rugs. Embrace the warmth of natural wood floors instead of acrylic and other synthetic options. This choice fosters a healthier and more environmentally friendly home. Synthetic materials can worsen the hidden dangers of static electricity. They tend to accumulate static charges that cling to us. These charges can also influence the electrical environment of the spaces we inhabit. Static electricity on synthetic surfaces can create an uncomfortable living atmosphere. It can also lead to disruption of electronic devices. In contrast, grounding surfaces like wood and stone mitigate these effects. They naturally dissipate excess electrical energy and create a more balanced space. By choosing natural flooring options, you enhance your home’s aesthetic. You also promote a healthier indoor environment, free from the potential adverse effects of synthetic materials.

The Skin’s Role in Absorption: What You Wear Matters

Here’s where it gets interesting: your skin is super absorbent! Everything you put on it—from lotions to clothes—can be absorbed into your bloodstream. If you’ve ever thought, “Oh, it’s just fabric, it won’t make a difference,” think again. If you’re wearing a lot of synthetic fabrics, you could be exposing your body to harmful chemicals over time.

Natural fabrics, on the other hand, allow your skin to breathe and don’t introduce those synthetic chemicals into your system. Your skin will thank you for choosing breathable, natural fibers like linen, cotton, or bamboo over the sweaty, chemical-laden embrace of synthetic fabrics.

Breathability vs. Sweatability: The Battle of Fabrics

Speaking of breathability, let’s chat about how clothes actually interact with your body. Have you ever worn a synthetic fiber top in the summer and found yourself a sweaty mess within minutes? Yeah, me too. Synthetic fabrics trap heat and moisture, causing you to sweat more than a person should ever sweat in public.

On the other hand, natural fibers like linen, cotton, and bamboo let your skin breathe. Linen, in particular, is known for its amazing ability to keep you cool and dry, even in hot, sticky weather. It’s like your personal air conditioning system in fabric form.

The Torah Knows Best: Why Mixing Wool and Linen is a No-Go

Here’s a fun (and slightly mysterious) tidbit for you: the Bible warns against mixing wool with linen. At first, I thought it was just because they shrink at different rates, but there’s actually more to it. According to Dr. Heidi Crawford-Yellen, a biblical reseacher, and Dr. Alphonso Monzo, discoverer of the Alef Tav Body System, mixing the two fabrics disrupts their vibrational frequencies, causing them to cancel each other out. Why does this matter? Linen, with its healing properties, is no longer as effective when paired with wool.

If you want to dive deeper into the benefits of linen, check out Dr. Heidi Crawford-Yellen’s article on the healing properties of flax-linen attire—it’s mind-blowing stuff. You can also study up on the Alef Tav Body System from Dr. Alphonzo Monzo and what he has discovered about ” the Hebrew, bioenergy of the human body and the building blocks of creation.” Seriously, this natural fiber has been used for centuries. It possesses therapeutic qualities. It has been hiding in plain sight!

The Sensory Shift: Why I Can’t Go Back to Synthetic Fabrics

Here’s the kicker: I’m a fiber artist. I crochet, embroider, and sew. I never paid much attention to the feel of synthetic fabrics until about two years ago. Suddenly, every time I touched polyester, my fingers would itch, and I felt like I was covered in something unpleasant.

Enter the great declutter. I started searching for linen garments to replace the synthetic stuff in my wardrobe. I realized that my body was rejecting those synthetic fibers without me even realizing it. So, goodbye polyester, hello linen!
