YHVH’s Ideal Diet: A Return to Edenic Foods

YHVH’s Ideal Diet: A Call to Return to the Edenic Diet

In our modern world of detox teas, trendy protein powders, and twelve-dollar green juices, people are desperately chasing health. But what if the best diet plan wasn’t found in a new app, fad cleanse, or influencer post—but in Genesis? Yes, you read that right. What if the blueprint for perfect health—and spiritual alignment—was given to us at the very beginning? The Edenic Diet, also known as YHVH’s Ideal Diet, wasn’t just a list of good food choices. It was a sacred model for life, harmony, and holiness.

And here’s the kicker: it didn’t involve bacon. Or steak. Or any blood.

Back to the Garden: The Edenic Diet

Let’s rewind to Eden. Picture it: no grocery stores, no labels, no calorie trackers—just fruit, seeds, grains, and veggies. In Genesis 1:29, YHVH says:

“Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed… and every tree, in which is the fruit… to you it shall be for meat.”

Notice what’s not on the menu? Steak. Chicken wings. Anything that had eyeballs. Or anything that came from something with a head. Dairy and eggs may be more palatable. However, they weren’t included in YHVH’s original design for sustenance. They too come from living beings. The focus was on plant-based nourishment, emphasizing harmony and the sacredness of life.

YHVH’s Ideal Diet was entirely plant-based. It was peaceful, bloodless, and very good—His words, not mine (Genesis 1:31). There was no death, no fear, and no violence. The lion didn’t chase the lamb. The lamb wasn’t seasoned and served with mint jelly. Everything lived in harmony, just as YHVH intended.

Permission Isn’t Endorsement: Meat Enters the Scene

Fast forward to the flood (Genesis 9). The earth is washed clean, the menu expands, and we’re told YHVH gives a temporary allowance:

“Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you… but flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat.”

This wasn’t a celebration. It was survival. The Edenic Diet wasn’t abolished—it was paused. Meat was permitted because crops were likely wiped out. But even in this moment of concession, YHVH draws a hard line: no blood.

So even if you think YHVH said, “Here, have a drumstick.” He absolutely added, “But don’t you dare touch the blood.”

Life Is in the Blood—and It Belongs to YHVH

Blood isn’t just gooey red stuff. According to the Bible, it represents life. And life is sacred. Leviticus 17:11 says:

“For the life of the flesh is in the blood…”

In other words, blood isn’t food. It’s holy. Blood holds the key to life, and all life is created by and, therefore, belongs to YHVH.

Throughout the Old Testament, YHVH repeats this instruction like a parent reminding their kid not to put marbles in their mouth:

  • Leviticus 17:10–12 – “I will set My face against anyone who eats blood.”
  • Deuteronomy 12:23–25 – “The blood is the life… thou shalt not eat it.”
  • 1 Samuel 14:33–34 – Saul rebukes his men for eating meat with blood: “Ye have transgressed.”

That’s not just dietary advice. That’s divine decree.

But Can’t You Drain It?

Some argue that proper slaughter methods remove the blood, making meat acceptable. But here’s the not-so-savory truth: you can’t remove all the blood. It is impossible.

Scientific Perspective

Blood is often referred to as the life-sustaining fluid of the body, playing a crucial role in maintaining homeostasis. Blood is composed of red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets, and plasma. It circulates through a vast network of arteries, veins, and capillaries. It reaches every tissue and bathes every cell. This continuous flow delivers essential nutrients and oxygen. It also facilitates the removal of metabolic waste products, such as carbon dioxide and urea. The intricate system of blood vessels ensures that even the most remote cells receive vital components necessary for cellular respiration and overall function. Furthermore, blood carries hormones and signaling molecules, linking various physiological processes and contributing to the body’s immune response. In essence, the scientific perspective underscores blood’s multifaceted role as the lifeblood that nourishes, protects, and maintains the delicate balance of the body’s intricate systems.

Biblical Perspective

Even with kosher techniques—salting, soaking, draining, you name it—residual blood remains. It’s in the capillaries, the muscle tissue, the very fibers of flesh. You can boil it, dry it, bless it, and pray over it… but science and Scripture agree: there’s still blood.

So, let’s ask the obvious question: if YHVH says “do not eat blood,” and meat contains blood, what are we doing? We need to consider our actions. How do we reconcile these instructions with our dietary choices?

We must choose between two options. We can honor YHVH’s Ideal Diet and avoid meat entirely. Alternatively, we can pretend the blood doesn’t count if hidden under barbecue sauce.

A Holiness Issue, Not Just a Health One

YHVH’s commands are never random. He didn’t give us spiritual “rules” for His own amusement. Every instruction carries purpose—especially when it comes to how we eat.

To abstain from blood is to acknowledge that life is sacred. To abstain from meat is to choose obedience over appetite. Even when animals were deemed “clean,” the blood rule still applied. So if the blood makes you unclean, how can the meat ever make you holy?

Prophets throughout Scripture warned Israel to return to righteousness—not just in temple worship, but in daily living. That includes what we put in our mouths. Your diet is a spiritual decision.

And YHVH’s Ideal Diet makes it clear: holiness starts at the dinner table.

The Edenic Diet Wasn’t a Temporary Phase

The Garden of Eden wasn’t a prototype—it was a pattern. The Edenic Diet wasn’t just for Adam and Eve. It’s the standard we’re called to return to.

Isaiah 11:6–9 paints a picture of restoration: the wolf dwelling with the lamb, the lion eating straw, no harm on YHVH’s holy mountain. It’s a reversal of violence. A return to peace.

We’re not waiting on new recipes in heaven. We’re returning to the old ones.

The future kingdom—the one we pray for—reflects YHVH’s Ideal Diet. Bloodless. Peaceful. Edenic.

But What About Bacon?

Ah yes. The most heartfelt objection.

“Are you telling me YHVH doesn’t want me to eat bacon?”

I’m not telling you—Scripture is. If it’s unclean, if it contains blood, if it violates YHVH’s repeated commands, then yes, bacon’s off the table.

But look at what’s being offered in exchange: peace, obedience, holiness, and alignment with YHVH’s will. Not to mention better blood pressure and the satisfaction of knowing you’re not eating something that once oinked and wagged its tail.

Humor aside, this isn’t about restriction. It’s about restoration.

More Than a Meal: A Spiritual Shift

When we choose plants over flesh, we’re not just making a diet change. We’re making a spiritual declaration.

We say:

  • I honor all life as YHVH created it.
  • I trust YHVH’s design.
  • I choose holiness over habit.

It’s not legalism. It’s love. YHVH’s Ideal Diet calls us to something higher. Something Edenic. Something bloodless. Every meal becomes a form of worship—a way to align our bodies with His Word.

Let’s Talk Real-World Impact

Reclaiming What Was Lost

We live in a broken world—far from Eden. But we don’t have to stay broken. YHVH is always calling us back.

He gave us a model in the garden. He gave us warnings throughout Scripture. And He gave us the ability to choose obedience. You can’t control everything in life—but you can control what’s on your plate.

YHVH’s Ideal Diet is more than veganism. It’s a return to purity. A return to peace. A return to Eden.

The fork can be a weapon or a witness. The choice is ours and we make that choice by choosing what we decide to put on it. Do we choose YHVH's Ideal Diet, the Edenic Diet, or do we choose causing the death of YHVH"s creation?

Your Fork Is a Weapon—or a Witness

Every meal is a choice between life and compromise. Are you reinforcing bloodshed or reflecting sacred design?

It’s time to stop ignoring the blood. It’s time to stop pretending the Edenic Diet was optional. It wasn’t. It was—and is—YHVH’s Ideal Diet.

So don’t just read this and nod. Take action. Clear your fridge. Plant a garden. Learn new recipes. Study the Word with fresh eyes.

Choose life. Choose Eden.

Start with your next meal, and let your plate preach.
