Should I Ask My Readers How to Promote My Business Organically?
Lately, I’ve been turning something over in my mind, and I want to bring you into that thought process instead of pretending I already have it figured out. One thing I’m considering is how I can promote my business organically in a genuine and effective way.
I’ve been wondering if I could be doing more to promote my business. Not because anyone has said I’m failing or falling behind—but because that quiet question seems to hover around anyone who creates something meaningful and hopes it reaches the people it’s meant for.
At the same time, I keep running into a tension I can’t ignore.
The work I love most—the work that feels most like me—is writing. Sitting with ideas. Making connections. Creating resources that take time to form and aren’t meant to be rushed. That’s where I feel grounded and alive.
What I don’t love is being behind the camera.
It’s not fear. It’s not insecurity. It’s that video pulls me out of my natural rhythm. It takes more from me than it gives back. And every hour I spend trying to force myself into marketing strategies that don’t fit is an hour I’m not writing, not creating, not doing the work that actually brought you here in the first place.
So I’ve been asking myself a bigger question: What does it really mean to promote my business organically—without losing the parts of my work that matter most to me?

The Pressure to “Do More”
If you spend any time online as a creator or small business owner, you’ve probably felt this too. There’s a constant hum of advice telling you to show up more, post more, be more visible, be more personal, be everywhere.
And while some of that works beautifully for some people, it doesn’t work equally for everyone.
I don’t think best out loud. I don’t process in real time. I think in layers. I write to understand what I believe. When I honor that, the work has depth. When I ignore it, everything starts to feel shallow and forced.
That’s when I realized something important: promoting my business shouldn’t compete with my best work. It should support it.
Rethinking What “Organic” Actually Looks Like
When I say I want to promote my business organically, I don’t mean avoiding effort or hoping growth magically happens. I mean growth that feels aligned instead of exhausting.
Organic growth, for me, looks like building slowly and honestly. It looks like letting the work speak for itself rather than constantly performing. It looks like choosing sustainability over trends.
Some people thrive on video. Others thrive in conversation, audio, or writing. None of these are better or worse—they’re just different ways of communicating.
I’ve had to give myself permission to stop measuring my business against methods that don’t fit me.
The Question I’m Seriously Considering
This is where I want to be transparent with you.
I’ve been thinking about asking my readers—asking you—what you think I should or could do to promote my business organically.
At first, that felt vulnerable. There’s a quiet fear that asking means I don’t know what I’m doing. But the more I sit with it, the more it feels like the opposite.
The people who read my work already know how they found it. They know what made them stay. And they know what actually makes them share something—not because they were told to, but because it mattered.
That kind of insight doesn’t come from algorithms. It comes from relationship.
Why I’m Leaning Toward Asking
I don’t want to grow by guessing what works. I want to grow by listening.
Inviting readers into the conversation feels more honest than pretending there’s a perfect strategy I just haven’t unlocked yet. It feels like building with community instead of talking at one. And truthfully, I don’t want promotion to feel like pressure—for you or for me.
Yes, I’m Considering Giving Options on Promoting My Business Organically
If I do ask for input, I don’t want it to feel like an obligation. I want it to feel like an invitation.
People support work in different ways. Some love sharing articles. Some quietly recommend things to friends. Some stay connected through newsletters. Some support by purchasing or leaving reviews. All of that matters.
Giving options acknowledges that not everyone engages the same way—and that’s a good thing.
It also allows me to keep doing what I do best, instead of spreading myself thin trying to do everything.
Protecting the Work That Matters Most
This reflection isn’t really about marketing at all. It’s about stewardship.
I want to protect the work that feels meaningful and sustainable. I want to keep writing with care instead of rushing to keep up. I want this business to grow in a way that still feels human—both for me and for the people it serves.
I don’t want noise. I want resonance. And I believe organic growth rooted in trust, honesty, and shared values may be slower—but it’s steadier. And it brings the right people, not just more people.
So Here’s Where I’d Love Your Voice
If you’ve read this far, I’d genuinely love to hear from you.
How did you find my work?
What makes you decide to share something you care about?
What feels natural to you when it comes to supporting creators you value?
You can reply to this post, send me a message, or simply sit with the question and share when it feels right. There’s no pressure—just curiosity and gratitude.
If you want to help me promote my business organically in a way that stays aligned with who I am, your insight means more than you probably realize.
Thank you for being here. Truly.
