Casting Your Pearls: When Preachers Attack Part II

Casting Your Pearls: When Preachers Attack

We have spent days in prayer and supplication over a preacher casting stones at us during his Sunday sermon. YHVH has opened our eyes, given us direction, and revealed some powerful truths.

Holding Your Peace When Attacked

When someone attacks me, my instinct is to strike back. Isn’t that everyone’s instinct? But in this situation, it’s not me who needs defending. This morning, as I prayed, a still small voice whispered, “hold your peace.” That phrase stuck with me. I searched for it in the Bible and, after seven attempts, I finally found it.

“The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.” – Exodus 14:14

The Most High made it clear—we were to stay silent because it wasn’t us being attacked. The Holy Spirit, guiding us in our studies and spiritual growth, was the true target.

Misaligned and Misunderstood

We’ve also been wrongly labeled as part of the “Hebrew Roots Movement.” That wasn’t even on our radar until we were accused of it! Naturally, we looked into it. Sure enough, there are some wild beliefs in that movement. But let’s be real—every denomination has its share of questionable doctrines. We are seekers of the Truth of the Word of Elohim. Period.

when casting your pearls results in preachers attacking instead of handling matters the way the Bible says to.

The Preacher’s Response vs. A Biblical One

We sought answers from the preacher leading our study. That didn’t go well. He made it clear we were no longer welcome. For simply questioning Paul’s writings, he treated us like enemies, shattering any trust or future fellowship. His so-called apology? “I’m sorry if I did anything that offended you.” That’s not repentance. Real repentance means owning your actions and making sure they don’t happen again.

Instead of handling concerns Biblically, he chose to abuse his pulpit power. Matthew 18:15-17 lays out a clear process for resolving issues, yet he ignored it. Worse, the church brethren dismissed it altogether.

The Congregation’s Response vs. The Right Response

Their reactions were disheartening:

  • “That’s just his way.” – Excusing bad behavior doesn’t make it right.
  • “I hope you can work this out.” – Translation: “We don’t want to get involved.”

A biblical response would have been to address the issue directly, ensuring truth and righteousness prevailed. Instead, they enabled his actions.

Still Seeking Truth

It’s surprising we lasted several years before ending up in his crosshairs. The Most High has been setting us apart long before we even entered that church. We continue to test all writings attributed to Paul because, frankly, some of his teachings DO contradict Yeshua and the rest of the Word. We trust that, in His time, the Most High will reveal all the answers we seek.

This entire experience has left us heavyhearted. Sometimes, the hardest battles aren’t against enemies, but against those who should be our brethren.
